Everycare Rugby Two Ticks
16/04/2010
Everycare Rugby has been awarded the Disability Two Ticks Symbol. This means when you are applying for jobs and you see an employer with Two Ticks they have a positive attitude towards job applications from disabled people.
About the disability symbol
The disability symbol is made up of two ticks and the words 'positive about disabled people'. You will see the symbol displayed on job adverts and application forms.
If an employer uses this symbol, it means they are positive about employing disabled people and will be keen to know about your abilities.
The symbol is awarded by Jobcentre Plus to employers in England, Scotland and Wales who have made commitments to employ, keep and develop the abilities of disabled staff.
The five commitments
Employers who use the disability symbol make five commitments regarding recruitment, training, retention, consultation and disability awareness.
These commitments are:
• to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities
• to discuss with disabled employees, at any time but at least once a year, what both parties can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities
• to make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
• to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
• to review these commitments each year and assess what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans
Rugby did not do anything out of the ordinary to achieve this we just worked as normal as this was spotted by the Jobcentre and awarded to us after a meeting.
Rugby currently employ four people with disabilities which range in type and severity but suffice it to say all of these staff have proven to be as much an integral part of Everycare Rugby as anyone else and bring alot of positive attitudes with them. We feel that in order to look after our service users with such diverse needs and difficulties starting with having a diverse staff base is vital. Some employees are testament to how a normal lifestyle and work role can be achieved if given the opportunity. In short this shows our Service Users we are committed to enhance everyones lifestyles we come into contact with.
Well done to ALL Everycare Rugby staff you are the best in Rugby by far.
